All About Be Ananda Yoga
My Bio
Namaste Yogis! I'm Amanda. I'm a yoga teacher, social worker, and mom of two. Needless to say; I need yoga to stay sane. I received my RYT-200 from Sadhana School of Yoga in 2021. This yoga school was phenomenal so I want to take this moment to shout out my amazing teachers, Alaina and Hannah. I earned my Bachelors of Social Work with a Major in Psychology from the University of Wyoming in 2016. I also completed 75 hours of continuing education trainings on Prenatal, Postnatal, and Conscious Couples Yoga because I saw an unmet need for it in my community.
My passion for yoga, mental health and overall well-being merged together over the years of practicing yoga in my personal life and counseling in my profession. I started practicing yoga after the stress of being a mother while going to college took a toll on my body. I literally felt like a living ball of tension. I would kink my neck all the time, cry tears of frustration on the regular, and have anxiety attacks for no given reason. Not only did yoga release my tight muscles, but it released the tensions I was holding in my mind and spirit. It transformed me mentally, physically and spiritually. This has helped me be a better teacher, counselor, mother, friend, and human being because I am so much more compassionate, connected, patient, and much less stressed out. Yoga has become my rock, my foundation, my coping skill to release the stresses and tensions that come from secondary trauma when working in the mental health field and the stresses of normal everyday life that can just be overwhelming some days.
I thoroughly enjoy practicing and teaching many styles of yoga. I'm particularly passionate about working with teenagers and people with addictions because I've seen so much hardship in these populations in my personal and professional life. I enjoy teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga to women during pregnancies and after because I didn't get the amazing benefits of yoga during that those times in my life. As a teen mom, I didn't know what I was doing or how to take care of my physical and mental needs at the time. My goal is to support these special populations on their road to building self-love, confidence and a connection that leave them feeling rejuvenated, motivated, and inspired to live their life in pursuit of their highest selves.
I'm constantly trying to expand my knowledge about yoga and spirituality in order to grow my own personal practice and to share my findings with those interested; so, if you have a question, please ask it. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll be excited to find it. My goal is to encourage not only the physical growth from asana practice, but to encourage growth both mentally and spiritually as well. Yoga has transformed my life from the inside out and I’m excited and honored to be a part of that process for others as a yoga teacher.
